At Christ Church you are invited to join with us as an active participant in the liturgy.  Together we sing, pray, listen, learn, and most importantly, share in the Eucharistic feast.

Recognizing that not everyone is familiar with navigating the Book of Common Prayer and the patterns of Episcopal worship, we have designed our worship bulletin with all of the text you will need to easily follow the service from start to finish.

All are invited to join us in the receiving of the bread and wine of communion.  The body and blood of Christ are God's gifts to us, and at Christ Church all are welcome to receive communion, regardless of your religious background.

Special Liturgies
Throughout the year, the church gathers for special celebrations, including...

Advent Lessons & Carols
Following a tradition begun in England over 100 years ago, a series of Advent-related Scripture readings are presented, each by a different reader, and each followed by an anthem and/or carol.  Music ranges from 16th century to contemporary.  A wonderful service which help keeps Christmas in perspective.   [Sunday afternoon in December]

Christmas Eve
Celebrate the birth of Christ by singing familiar carols, lighting candles, and hearing once again the story of Christmas.  The 2007 schedule can be found here.

Choral Evensong
The traditional Anglican service of Evensong, with readings, prayers, chant, and choral music; followed by a supper in Harris Hall.   [Sunday afternoon during Lent]

Maundy Thursday
The commemoration of the Last Supper and the act of Christ washing his disciples' feet, ending with the stripping of the altar of all adornment and the veiling of the cross.  A very powerful liturgy, preceded by a dinner in Harris Hall.   [Thursday before Easter]

Good Friday
Solemn liturgy recalling Jesus' death on the cross.   [Friday before Easter]

The Great Vigil of Easter
The night before Easter Day, we gather in the courtyard in darkness to kindle a fire.  From this fire the congregation lights their candles and processes into the darkened church to hear the great stories of salvation.  After the Easter Acclamation, the lights shine forth, accompanied by the ringing of bells, and we celebrate the First Eucharist of Easter.  [Saturday before Easter]
