For Teens
The youth of this parish (who
number multiple dozens) are considered vital members of Christ Church, and are
fully incorporated into the worship and community. They take part in
intergenerational activities, serve as acolytes, lead our prayers, engage in
leadership opportunities, read scripture, sing in the Praise Band and Christ
Church Choir, and bring a high level of energy to all that we do here at Christ
Church.
Teen Sunday School
Two Sunday School classes are offered for teens weekly from
9:15-10:15 AM; one for grades 7-8, and one for grades 9-12. These
classes are open to all youth in the parish.
Junior High Youth
Group (Grades 7-8)
This group usually meets twice each month, on a Friday evening from
6:30-8:30 PM. They
engage in fellowship, study, and of course,
FUN. On occasion, this group will join with the Senior High group
for joint activities, such as pool parties or trips to concerts.
For information, contact Sarah Loy.
Senior High Youth
Group (Grades 9-12)
This group usually meets three times each month, on Sunday nights
beginning at 6:30 PM. Along with fellowship and study, there are
many trips offered to this group, including ski weekends, concerts, and
sporting events. For information, contact
Sarah Loy.
Confirmation
Each fall, teens in 7th Grade and up are eligible to enroll in the
Confirmation program. Confirmation is a two-year program consisting
of regular participation in Sunday School,
one
evening activity a month, retreats in the fall and spring, and
service to the church and community. Our Confirmation Program is
designed to give our youth an opportunity to explore and deepen
their faith as they prepare to make a mature commitment to Jesus
Christ.
Acolytes
Youth in Grades 8-12 may serve as acolytes — carrying the
processional cross, torches, the Gospel book, or assisting the
clergy at the altar. This is a chance for teens to use their gifts
as part of worship. Acolytes work in teams and usually serve once
every five to six weeks.
Mission Team
This year we are planning a parish-wide mission trip, open to both
teens and adults. The mission team will meet throughout the year to
plan for the upcoming mission trip. Youth are welcome to join the
team. Look for information in our church newsletter,
The Anchor,
or contact the Associate Rector.
Leadership Team
Christ Church has a great group of student leaders who put their
gifts to use planning and organizing youth events for the church and
the community. Whether you are an artist, an organizer, a
visionary, a detail person, or a shopper, we have a place for you to
lead in our community of faith. The Youth
Minister can answer any questions you may have about this
program.
